The Q&A
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
I am an author who has written in multiple genres including contemporary, women’s fiction, paranormal, and cozy mysteries. I have always loved writing and reading. I am married with two mischievous kittens Pepsi and Cola. When I am not writing I can be found with my husband on cruises, doing photography, traveling to different states in my Jeep Wrangler, and obsessively watching the Hallmark channel 😀
LIST THREE FUN FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF THAT WE WOULDN’T READ IN YOUR ‘OFFICIAL’ BIO.
- I have swam with sting rays
- I have climbed the Dunnes River Falls in Jamaica holding hands with people to make a human chain
- I have gone on a tour through an inactive volcano in St. Lucia
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START WRITING? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE COZY MYSTERIES?
I loved using my imagination to create stories and reading books by authors as I grew up fueled the need to bring my writing to life.
I chose to write cozies because as I was writing my Ties Trilogy which is contemporary, I found myself reading many cozy books and realized I loved the genre. Once my Ties Trilogy was complete I immediately began writing cozies. When I write my cozies the storyline seems to flow and I enjoy creating the characters.
WHAT SUBGENRE(S) OR THEMES OF COZY MYSTERIES DO YOU WRITE?
The 4 books in my series are hard to place in a single category. Book 1 would be culinary, books 2 and 4 deal with traveling, and book 3 is about issues that arrive in small town businesses.
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR COZY MYSTERY SERIES. WHAT INSPIRES YOUR SERIES?
I loved the concept of creating a small town where people are supportive. I felt it was imperative to create the characters so they were relatable to the reader. The series is loosely based on interactions I have experienced and each book consists of issues readers might face during their lives.
WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE LOVE TO READ COZY MYSTERIES?
The small town, everyone knows each other vibe, the cute mom and pop shops with creative names. I think cozies draw people in due to lack of gore and other horror aspects. While cozies have suspense it isn’t overdone.
ASIDE FROM BEING AN AUTHOR, ARE YOU INVOLVED IN THE COZY COMMUNITY IN ANY OTHER WAY?
